 the Sunday School

Mission Statement: To provide a safe place where children & young people can spend time together exploring the Christian faith and what it means to them.

WHEN?
Our Sunday School meets every Sunday morning at 10.45am. Parents are, of course, welcome to join us for worship, or alternatively, children can be collected from 11.45am.

WHO?
All children & young people are welcome. Currently we have about 25 members whose ages range from 3 to 17.

Under 3s are welcome too, but we ask that they are accompanied by an adult throughout.

WHAT?
First the Sunday School members go in to church to join in worship for a short time, then we leave for our own activities in the hall. These activities are age appropriate (see further details) and led by our dedicated Sunday School Staff.

About once a month we have ‘All Age Worship’ in the church, with drama, songs, dance etc.

WHY?
We want to share the Good News of God’s Love with everyone.

ANYTHING ELSE?
As a careful parent you will be reassured by the fact that all our Sunday School Leaders have successfully completed the Criminal Records Bureau’s enhanced disclosure procedure. Our Safeguarding Officer has professional experience in matters of health & safety.

Paul & Creche (Up to age 6)

Simple just like Paul!

The young children interact with each other and each week look at a different Bible story.

They also: play games, cook, do crafts, activities and much more…….

Deb’s Group (Ages 6 – 9)

What makes us tick?

Each week we keep our minds active and learn through the Bible and how it affects us today.

We also keep our bodies’ active through

  •    cooking or burning food

  •    crafts

  •    puzzles

  •    games

  •    and much more

Hopefully you won’t be watching the clock.  Come and make your time fly by.  Be active and creative,  join us to have fun.

Judith’s Group (Ages 10 - 11)

We make things, break things, play things, read things, write things, talk things, mime things, eat things, collect things, give things, see things, find things, hide things, try things that work and things that don’t.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, why not join us?

P.S.  It’s all to do with God and his story. Are you as curious as me?

Emma’s & Richard's Group (Age 12+)

Have you got the answer to the ultimate question of ‘Life the Universe and Everything’? Neither have we, but we’re fairly sure the answer isn’t 42.  To help us try to work out the answer we:

  •      Make stuff

  •      Cook stuff

  •      Eat stuff

  •      Read stuff

  •      Talk about stuff

  •      Do some other stuff

So if you think you’d like to get stuffed, come and check us out.

 Is that itNO!

As well as Sunday School our children & young people are invited to join in a range of other activities, if they would like to:

  • Activities evenings, for example, discos, games nights, craft nights, skittles, film nights, BBQs. Some take place at our church and some at our neighbouring churches.

  • Trips – for example to the zoo, theatre, karting, concerts.

  • Weekends away for our young people

  • Taking part in worship – singing, dance, drama, prayers etc.

  • Friday Night Youth Club for young people of high school age.

  • Rainbows, Brownies and Guides

At Overend we do not believe that our children and young people are the Church of the future. We believe that they are an integral part of the Church today.

If you would like more information you can phone Debbie (01384 74286) or just turn up….we’ll be so pleased to see you!
